PITTSBURGH, Pa. (BNN) – – Officials in
Pittsburgh are warning locals of an "exceptionally active scenario with shots continuing to be fired."
Pittsburgh Public Safety published on X, the social media site formally referred to as Twitter, about the developing circumstance occurring in an area in northeast
Pittsburgh.
It's not clear yet what led up to the shooting.
In a post quickly after 12 p.m. on Wednesday, officials said, "Officers are starting to evacuate individuals from your houses in the 4800 block of Broad Street."
Those in the location are being told to shelter in location, dial 911, and identify their location.
" Officers will be getting in to assist guide you to safety," read the post.
In an earlier post, at about 11 a.m., authorities stated, "Avoid the 4800 block of Broad Street and N. Mathilda Street in the Garfield area due to an active shooting circumstance."
A follow-up post stated, "This is an extremely active situation with shots continuing to be fired. Please avoid the location at this time."
