RICHLAND COUNTY, Ohio-- The Humane Society of Richland County (HSRC) is asking for assistance from the neighborhood after it helped rescue 82 pet dogs and puppies from a Mansfield area home.
The Richland County Sheriff's Office (RCSO) was investigating a loud amount of barking at a home on Saturday morning when they found a rusted-out trailer with more than a lots pet dogs in wire cages.
" There were poodles in there in cages that were filthy," Managing Director of the Humane Society of Richland County Linda Chambers said. "They were stacked on top of each other. No air quality or anything."
The RCSO rapidly called Chambers to come help since the concern was much worse than expected. In total 82 pets and pups were discovered at the house.
" A great deal of Dachshunds, there were some Pugs, there are some little Terriers, mostly small breed pets," she stated. "Some Hounds, Beagles, there's just a whole lot-- there's an entire variety of them. And like I said, the small poodles that we discovered in the trailer."
One pup was discovered dead, and one pet died after being rescued and required to the veterinarian for emergency situation care. Now the HSRC is working to bring the dogs back to health.

" When we arrived and we saw how bad it was; I believe we just went into the frame of mind that we got ta get them out," Chambers stated. "We needed to get them to the shelter where we can assess them."
Handling this lots of pets carries a big cost, so HSRC asked for help from its Facebook followers to raise funds for treatments and materials. Within a day, more than $22,000 has actually been raised.
