16-year-old injured and 1 detained after shooting near Northside High School, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (BNN)-- A Northside High School student is anticipated to be okay after he was shot throughout a fight with 2 other young boys off campus Tuesday afternoon, cops said.
According to cops, the shooting happened just before 1 p.m. in the 2300 block of Fulton Street near Quitman. When they heard gunshots, two officers were driving southbound on Fulton and patrolling the area.
The officers turned toward the shooting and saw three males, including the 16-year-old victim, on the sidewalk. At that point, authorities stated the young victim was down, and one suspect ran northbound while another ran southbound on Fulton.
Officers broke up, with one monitoring on the victim and the other running toward among the suspects. A minimum of one suspect was apprehended and reminded the scene. The second suspect managed to get away, according to authorities.

Authorities said an officer applied a tourniquet to the injured 16-year-old, who was then taken to the hospital.
A firearm was reportedly discovered at the scene, and an examination continues.
