2 Eastern Plains chauffeurs rescued from fast-moving floodwater


ROGGEN, Colo. (BNN)-- Two chauffeurs needed to be saved from fast-moving flood waters early Friday morning.

A representative for the Southeast Weld Fire Protection District confirmed the 2 drivers were swept away by flood water on County Road 87, near Roggen, and swept down Kiowa Creek.

" By the time I got here, there's a vehicle, method the back, stuck on a tree," stated Krista Peace, vice president of Kiowa Valley Organics, who saw the rescue attempts.

Firefighters helped recover the chauffeur of a mainly submerged truck.

" The man from the truck had actually already gotten out and was sitting on top of his roof," Peace stated.
The chauffeur of a 2nd SUV was brought to security by a do-gooder.

The lorries remain in the water. No one was injured.

" Yeah, do not cross it," Peace said. "Don't cross if you see water, particularly flowing like that."
