Another 4,000 marijuana plants seized in Stanislaus County

(FOX40.COM) - - Almost 2 weeks after law enforcement busted countless marijuana plants and guns in numerous Stanislaus County homes, another unlawful grow operation was discovered.

On Wednesday, Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department said it acted on a search warrant at a house on the 1100 block of North Carpenter Road in Modesto. Throughout the search, "a large illegal marijuana grow functioned and 4,000 plants were seized."

Although growing and using cannabis is legal in California, there are some limitations. Prohibited growing of marijuana plants in California typically describes growing cannabis without complying with state and regional laws. Offenses consist of:

  • Growing more plants than permitted by law.
  • Cultivating marijuana without the needed authorizations or licenses.
  • Growing cannabis in prohibited locations, such as near schools or parks.
  • Engaging in growing activities that breach ecological regulations, such as illegal water diversions or making use of prohibited pesticides.
  • Cultivating marijuana for sale without appropriate permission, such as operating an unlicensed industrial grow operation.

  • New marijuana laws in California to protect workers work in 2024

Present state laws permit California residents 21 years and older to cultivate approximately 6 cannabis plants in a single personal home. Violations can lead to fines, property seizure, and criminal charges.
