WASHINGTON-- South Carolina will hold overflow elections next week to choose a handful of races in which no candidate received a majority of the vote in the main held simply 2 weeks previously. In the 3rd Congressional District, primary citizens winnowed the congested Republican field down to pastor Mark Burns and nurse professional Sheryl Biggs. Burns has previous President Donald Trump's endorsement and was the top vote-getter in the main, with about 33% of the vote. Biggs put 2nd with about 29%. Biggs has the support of Republican Gov. Henry McMaster. The contest will likely identify who'll be successful retiring GOP U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan. The runoff elections will occur Tuesday.
