Baskin-Robbins-- the largest (variety of areas) ice cream specialty chain in the U.S.-- is opening its 3rd stand-alone Alabama place in Hoover.

For ice cream fans, history was made in 1945, when Baskin-Robbins was established. At the time most ice cream parlors typically provided three tastes – – strawberry, vanilla and chocolate.

That changed forever when Baskin- Robbins offered 31 tastes to its loyal customers-- one for each day of the month. The principle took off – – and quickly there were stores opening across the country and worldwide.

New Location on Highway 31 (Nice Coincidence!)

The brand-new Baskin Robbins in the Birmingham area is set to open on Sunday, September 3rd at 1539 Montgomery Highway, Hoover, Alabama 35216. Its next-door neighbors are Wing Stop and Smoothie King.

The Grand Opening is arranged for September 16th. Together with a ribbon cutting, a DJ, free gifts and rewards, Baskin Robbins will be offering ice cream at 31 cents a scoop from Noon till 4:00 PM that day.

Presently, there are a handful of Baskin Robbins areas around the state, mostly stores co-located with Dunkin. The Hoover website is the only stand-alone Birmingham city Baskin-Robbins ice cream shop. The other two are in Huntsville.

According to the Baskin Robbins site, there are 2400+ U.S. locations, each locally owned and run.
