DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (BPROUD) – – A
Baton Rouge Police officer is under examination after apparently sending out messages that blame a teen girl for an officer's shooting injuries.
Charley Alaina, 17, stated 30 minutes before a shooting near a shopping mall in Denham Springs injured a police officer, the suspect followed her house after displaying what she called "roadway rage."
The next early morning a
Baton Rouge policeman presumably sent out Alaina's mom a Facebook message seeming to blame her for the shooting.
The supposed message from Officer Matthew Hurley's Facebook stated, "Tell your buddy Charley that I hope she feels bad due to the fact that she could have avoided the officer from getting shot if she would have reported the car."
" Who knows what to do in this situation, like people like my home is my safe location, I'm going to come here and lock the doors and go hide in my space. I hope he will get the best punishment that he deserves," she stated.
In another declared message sent out an hour later, he called it a typo.
" None of it is her fault ... once again, I'm really sorry," he said.
" It was absolutely not a mature thing to say to a seventeen-year-old," Alaina said.
Alaina stated she considers this a kind of victim blaming.
" That was certainly not an advantage to say defiantly affected me a bit, I resembled, ‘‘ Oh maybe I must have called the polices you understand'," stated Alaina.
" The complainant contacted us to report the event, and it is presently under examination," the
Baton Rouge Police Department said in a statement.
" I hope he will get the ideal penalty that he deserves because this is delicate," Alaina said. "It's a sensitive matter to the other relative that this happened too."
The Denham Springs Police Department states Cpl. Shawn Kelly's condition hasn't changed since Friday morning.
