Lexington, KY – The second annual Blue Morpho Walk transformed the streets into a sea of vibrant blue this past weekend, as hundreds of supporters rallied to raise critical funds for pediatric cancer patients at Kentucky Children’s Hospital. This heartwarming event, inspired by the resilience of children battling cancer, saw families, healthcare workers, and community members marching side by side to make a difference.
The event’s namesake, the Blue Morpho butterfly, symbolizes transformation and hope—qualities that resonate deeply with young cancer patients and their families. Organizers chose this emblem to reflect the courage of children undergoing treatment and the community’s unwavering support.
The proceeds will directly support:
Sarah Mitchell, whose 6-year-old son is in remission, shared: “Events like this remind us we’re not fighting alone. The hospital’s team—and this community—gave us hope when we needed it most.”
Organizers announced plans to expand next year’s walk into a statewide series, with tentative routes in Louisville and Bowling Green. Volunteer registration for the 2025 event opens this fall.
