In a heart-wrenching incident that has left the Santa Ana community reeling, police have apprehended a suspect linked to a fatal hit-and-run accident that took place early Sunday morning, October 20, 2024. The victim, identified as Ralph Marin, a 31-year-old local resident, tragically lost his life due to the reckless actions of the driver.
At approximately 12:30 a.m., the Santa Ana Police Department received an urgent call reporting a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at the intersection of Bristol Street and Park Lane. Responding swiftly, officers, alongside the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), arrived at the scene to find Marin lying in the roadway, suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Despite immediate medical intervention, OCFA pronounced him dead at the scene, sparking an intense investigation into the events that led to this tragic loss.
Following a thorough investigation by the Collision Investigations Unit, authorities identified the suspect as Eric Serafin Bahena, a 42-year-old resident of Santa Ana. Detectives worked diligently, employing surveillance techniques to locate both Bahena and the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run.
Bahena was subsequently arrested and booked at the Santa Ana Jail for CVC 20001(a) – Felony Hit-and-Run, with the vehicle being impounded as crucial evidence in the ongoing investigation.
