The James household released a statement Friday saying a genetic heart flaw was the likely cause of James' cardiac arrest. The declaration stated the heart defect can be dealt with which the household is positive in James' capability to make a full healing and return to the court in the future.

The Trojans had the nation's fourth-ranked recruiting class, consisting of the top-rated gamer in guard Isaiah Collier.

Enfield said the pitch to James and his family wasn't various compared to other recruits.

" He's a great basketball gamer and was playing extremely well (prior to the cardiac arrest). We all think there is a huge advantage in his video game and he can assist our team win," Enfield said. "It was a little later in the recruiting cycle and also was different due to the fact that he originates from a pretty good basketball family. It really didn't change our recruiting pitch because we're really sincere with people and showed him a chance that we believed he could have here at USC. His parents were terrific through the entire recruiting process and have actually been extremely supportive considering that.".

Enfield also said he was pleased with his group's advancement throughout a recent trip to Europe that saw his team play games in Greece and Croatia.

Fifth-year senior guard Boogie Ellis has accepted the role of being a group co-captain while Collier and forward DJ Rodman, a graduate transfer from Washington State, got to mesh with new colleagues in game situations.
