LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. — Authorities are urgently searching for a man accused of sexually assaulting an 81-year-old woman in her Lauderdale Lakes home, a crime that has left the community shaken. The Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) has released surveillance footage in hopes of tracking down the suspect.

The Shocking Details of the Crime

According to BSO, the attack occurred on June 28, 2024, around 5:30 p.m. The victim had just returned home when the suspect allegedly forced his way inside. Investigators say the man then sexually assaulted the elderly woman before fleeing the scene.

The suspect was captured on surveillance footage near the victim's home wearing:

  • A dark-colored hoodie
  • Light-colored shorts
  • White sneakers

Community on High Alert

BSO has increased patrols in the area and is urging residents to review their home security measures. "This is a heinous crime targeting one of our most vulnerable populations," said Sheriff Gregory Tony. "We will not rest until this predator is brought to justice."

Neighbors have expressed outrage and fear following the attack. "To target an elderly woman in her own home is unforgivable," said one resident who asked to remain anonymous. "We need to catch this monster before he strikes again."
