Canutillo bows out of playoffs with 44-0 loss to Emerson

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Canutillo Eagles gave it their best shot, but the Emerson Mavericks showed to be too physical and too fast for the Eagles to match up against.

Friday afternoon in Lubbock, the Emerson Mavericks defeated the Canutillo Eagles, 44-0 in the location round of the Class 5A department 2 playoffs.

Canutillo was wanting to bring home their 3rd straight location championship.

Emerson controlled from start to complete.

The Mavericks had a 27-0 lead at the half, while holding back Canutillo's offense from scoring any points.

Emerson will carry on to the regional quarterfinals, while Canutillo ends their season with an overall record of 9-3.
