In an unexpected twist that has captured the attention of both gaming enthusiasts and space aficionados, the creators of the infamous party game Cards Against Humanity (CAH) have launched a $15 million lawsuit against SpaceX. The heart of the dispute revolves around allegations of trespassing and property damage in Cameron County, Texas, which CAH purchased in 2017 as part of their resistance against the controversial border wall proposed during the Trump administration.
The legal battle was ignited when CAH claimed that SpaceX engaged in unauthorized activities on their land, which they had been diligently safeguarding. According to CAH, SpaceX issued a 12-hour ultimatum for them to accept a significantly undervalued offer for the land. The ultimatum was met with defiance from CAH, who responded with a bold declaration: “Go f*** yourself, Elon Musk. We’ll see you in court.” This fiery retort was publicly shared on a newly established website featuring the lawsuit details.
Since the acquisition, CAH has taken measures to maintain the property, including erecting a fence and a “No Trespassing” sign. However, the petition reveals that SpaceX has allegedly acquired neighboring lots and treated CAH's property as if it were their own. Photographic evidence submitted in the lawsuit depicts construction machinery and unapproved activities on the site.
CAH's petition outlines the damage done not only to their land but also to their relationship with supporters. They claim that SpaceX's actions have jeopardized the trust built with their community. The lawsuit seeks $15 million in damages, with a promise to distribute the proceeds equally among the original 150,000 subscribers, up to $100 each.
As this legal confrontation unfolds, the gaming community and space enthusiasts alike are watching closely. The outcome could have significant implications for corporate land rights and the interplay between private enterprises and community activism.
