CHP to conduct sobriety checkpoint in El Dorado Hills

The California Highway Patrol will perform a sobriety checkpoint in El Dorado Hills on the night of July 6, the company said on Wednesday.

California law needs checkpoints to be announced ahead of time however does not need their accurate place to be revealed.

" All frequently, members of our community are senselessly hurt or killed on our local streets by intoxicated motorists," Lieutenant R. Hatfield stated in a statement.

" Traffic volume permitting, all cars will be checked for motorists who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs," the declaration continued.

Law enforcement agencies regularly utilize checkpoints as an added means to prevent individuals from driving while intoxicated.

The CHP said the checkpoint is being paid for with a grant from the state's Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
