Cities throughout the Rio Grande Valley are distributing sandbags ahead of heavy rains that's anticipated to get here at some point Wednesday.

> > Edinburg: Edinburg Service Center, 1201 N. Doolittle Road. > > McAllen: McAllen Recycling Center, 4101 N. Bentsen Road. Open 7 a.m. – – 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, weather allowing

Self-serve bags, limit six for locals, 12 for services. Proof of residency needed.

>> > > Pharr: Pharr EMS Headquarters, 3000 N. Cage Blvd. and Pharr Development & & Research Center, 850 W. Dicker Road.

Open up until 7 p.m. on Monday. Limitation six for citizens, 12 for businesses. Evidence of residency required.

>> > > Alamo: The city of Alamo is offering sandbags through a multi-step process that includes first picking up empty bags at town hall-- or a "purple voucher" for senior and disabled homeowners-- then continuing to among 4 distribution website in other places in the city.

Pick up empty sandbags/purple vouchers at Alamo City Hall, 420 N. Tower Road. Proof of residency required. Open till 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

Disabled and senior residents need to then take their purple coupons to Alamo Public Works, 803 S. Tower Road.

All other homeowners can pick from one of the following three places: Alamo Sports Complex, 600. E. Ridge Road; Balli Park, 804 E. Nebraska Road; or Álamos Park at the corner of 6th and Citrus Streets in between Duranta.
