Claremont and Chino Hills boys beach ball teams get seeds for CIF Southern Section playoffs

The Claremont and Chino Hills kids beach ball teams finished behind Upland in the Baseline League standings, however the Wolfpack and Huskies find themselves in position to make a run at a championship in the CIF Southern Section playoffs.

Claremont, the Baseline League runner-up, got the No. 1 seed in the Division 4 bracket when the pairings were launched Saturday. The Wolfpack will open at home Thursday, April 27, against Lancaster or Maranatha.

Chino Hills, which finished third in the Baseline League, made the No. 2 seed in the Division 4 playoff bracket. In spite of that high seeding, the Huskies will be making a trip to Miller for a wild-card match Tuesday night.

As for Upland, the Baseline League champs ended up No. 10 in the last Division 2 rankings. The Highlanders will host Arcadia in a first-round match Thursday evening. Upland was the Division 3 runner-up last season.

The Division 3 bracket functions 20 groups that won league titles, suggesting there are a few first-round matches in between league champs. The most intriguing pits Southwestern League champion Vista Murrieta against Ivy League champion Elsinore.
