CLOVIS, Calif. (BNN)-- A Clovis organization is taking action to empower girls who have aged out of foster or group homes.
Gracefamilyluv (GFL) launched its transitional real estate program in July.
"" I'& #x 27;d absolutely be homeless-- like eating out of trash cans, sleeping on the sidewalk, cold in the middle of the winter,"" shared Hayli.
Early Monday early morning, the 18-year-old taken pleasure in a donut for breakfast-- thinking of what her life appeared like beginning at six years old.
She went from living in foster care to being adopted and kicked out at 16 years old to group homes.
Hayli never ever thought she'& #x 27;d ever have safe space to live-- until she was described Gracefamilyluv.
"" I could have the safety that I truly needed, and the stability that I truly needed, in addition to the assistance,"" she said.
Hayli is one of 5 girls residing in the company'& #x 27; s transitional home and going through its program that concentrates on Christian worths.
"" We produced a 12-month program that has workshops that have to do with healing, with growth frame of mind and volunteering, life skills-- everything that they require to understand to be an adult, basically,"" discussed executive director Vanessa Castaneda.
Now, she & #x 27; s able to use the organization & #x 27; s cars and truck to go to work.
According to Castaneda, there are numerous girls - like Hayli - in
Fresno County, who are failing the cracks. She anticipates more women to need GFL'& #x 27; s support. She wants to open more homes, including one for young men.
Gracefamilyluv is always searching for volunteers and donations.
"" Just be able to share with the ladies-- to share the love that they'& #x 27; ve never gotten,"" Castaneda stated.
Currently, the young women are working on a volunteer task to help families in the neighborhood that are unhoused. They are trying to find contributed winter clothing, blankets and soup to give out.
