BOULDER, Colo. — The air is electric in Boulder as Colorado's head football coach, Deion Sanders, faces the media in anticipation of the Buffaloes' first Big 12 Conference game in 14 years. This Saturday, the CU Buffs (2-1) will clash with the Baylor Bears (2-1) in a nationally televised showdown at 6 p.m. at the iconic Folsom Field. But will Mother Nature play a role in this highly awaited contest?
As excitement mounts, meteorologists are warning of a potential storm system moving into Colorado. Chris Bianchi, a meteorologist from the 9NEWS Weather Impact Team, predicts that a trough of low pressure could bring several hours of steady rain to the Front Range on Saturday night, coinciding with the game.
In his press conference, Coach Sanders remained optimistic about the weather forecast. “We’ve got rain? What forecast you got?” he quipped, pulling out his phone to check the latest updates. “I’m one of those good-weather people — when you say 60% (chance of rain), I say there’s a 40% chance that it won’t.”
When asked whether the team would practice special drills for wet conditions, Sanders replied, “We’re not going to take time out during practice to do a drill based on something that might not happen. Let’s do drills that say it won’t rain.” This confident stance reflects the Buffaloes' readiness to face any challenge.
The CU Buffs are making history this season, playing games broadcast on all four major networks for the first time ever. Following Baylor's recent victory over Air Force (31-3), fans can expect a thrilling contest. Tickets for the game sold out in August, but those still eager to attend can explore resale options through CU's ticket partner, SeatGeek.
