(FOUNTAIN, Colo.)-- The
Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) is examining an officer-involved shooting including 2 officers with the Fountain Police Department (FPD).
According to FPD, right before 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, authorities reacted to a call near Taos Circle, for an alleged Domestic Violence Disturbance. According to cops, when 2 officers showed up on the scene and started to investigate, the suspect's dog assaulted an officer.
FPD stated that while the dog was attacking the officer, the suspect then apparently started to assault both officers. While being attacked by the suspect and the dog, both officers apparently contended least one round striking the suspect and the dog, said FPD.
The suspect was required to the medical facility with at least one gunshot wound, and the canine died at the scene, according to authorities. One officer was required to the health center for non-life-threatening injuries due to a canine bite, the 2nd officer was not injured.
Based on FPD's policy, both officers have actually been put on paid administrative leave. CSPD will be examining this incident, which prevails practice for an officer-involved shooting.
