Deion Sanders Talks Team Additions, Health, and New Uniforms

University of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders discussed his team's recent additions during the 71st Annual Fall Sports Media Day in Boulder. Sanders expressed optimism about the team's potential for improvement, particularly focusing on strengthening the offensive line to build upon last season's four wins.

Additionally, Sanders shared insights into his personal health journey, highlighting his recovery from blood clots in his leg and the amputation of toes on his left foot due to an old frostbite injury from his playing days.

Excitingly, Sanders teased the upcoming release of new team uniforms for the season. He mentioned his involvement in the design process but emphasized that the team's performance on the field remains the top priority. "Uniforms don't win or lose games," Sanders remarked. "They just enhance the look."

Speaking of players, Sanders praised two-way star Travis Hunter, comparing him favorably to his own career at this stage. Sanders commended Hunter's character, noting his integrity as both a player and a student.

In a lighter moment, Sanders humorously mentioned his children on campus who likely forgot his birthday. "Thank you for your consistency over the years, son," Sanders quipped. "I really appreciate what you do on every birthday... nothing."

CU has already sold out season tickets for the upcoming 2024 football season, marking Colorado's second year under Sanders and the program's return to the Big 12 Conference. The Buffs will kick off the season at home against North Dakota State, with the game set to be aired on ESPN.

Throughout the season, the Buffs will face off against nine of their 15 conference opponents, including matchups against Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Texas Tech, Arizona, Utah, Central Florida, and Cincinnati.
