It's rarely the worlds of expert tennis and the GOP collide.
This week, numerous conservative leaders voiced their contempt for the outdated vaccine mandate policy that is avoiding the world's No. 1 ranked tennis player, Novak Djokovic, from playing at the Indian Wells Masters in California, which is now currently underway.
Conservative political leaders are advocating for Djokovic to get entry into the U.S. to play. Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) penned a letter to President Joe Biden to see if an exemption might be given. DeSantis is intending to get Djokovic on the court for the Miami Open beginning March 19.

Djokovic obtained a special vaccine exemption, which was rejected.
The only thing keeping Novak Djokovic from taking part in the Miami Open tennis tournament is President Biden's unscientific and misguided COVID-19 vaccination requirement for foreigner travelers.

" This rejection is unreasonable, inappropriate and unscientific. I prompt you to reevaluate," DeSantis wrote in the letter to the president. "It's time to put pandemic politics aside and offer the American individuals what they desire-- let him play.
" I keep in mind that given that the onset of COVID-19, Mr. Djokovic has checked out the United States at least two times-- including once during your presidency-- without any obvious health incident," the letter continued.
DeSantis also opined that Djokovic should be allowed to go into the country by boat. The potential 2024 presidential candidate also consisted of a due date for a response by March 10. Will the sitting president respond and make this right?
DeSantis comprehends Djokovic's existence in Florida is an obvious favorable for commerce. More so, it provides the American people an appearance at DeSantis and Biden going head-to-head on an issue. Maybe DeSantis is a passionate tennis fan, but his far-flung motives appear clear here.
The Serbian tennis star was disallowed from the 2022 U.S. Open-- the country's premier tennis tournament. Djokovic's presence in the U.S. is important. We are a nation with deep ties to sports in our culture. Denying the very best worldwide from completing for any reason must raise alarm.

Yet Biden is set on keeping among the world's top athletes on the sidelines. In the heat of the moment, worldwide travel limitations seemed like a required preventative measure. At this moment, it's just stubbornness to keep this rubbish going.
I put in the time to complete a volunteer type for the 2023
Miami Open-- just for fun. At no point did the application inquire about vaccination status.
I could reveal up and possibly be a courtside volunteer and be completely unvaccinated. A male who has actually won 22 Grand Slam titles is required to sit at house and not contend.
Definitely outrageous.
