As you glance around the vibrant Camp Bowie District in west Fort Worth, you can feel the pulse of a community in transformation. Recently, a gathering of local leaders took place at the luxurious Bowie House, part of the Auberge Resorts Collection—the first of two upscale hotels to open in the area, showcasing the district's evolution.
The Bowie House is not just another hotel; it has gained recognition from the esteemed Michelin Guide, symbolizing the $150 million investment that has revitalized this area in the past year. The Crescent Hotel Fort Worth, which opened in mid-2023, adds to the allure, bringing with it more than 500 new jobs, as noted by Lydia Guajardo Rickard, executive director of the nonprofit organization steering this revitalization.
“Fort Worth is now the 12th largest city in the nation, and we are on the brink of breaking into the top 10,” Rickard stated passionately. “Despite this growth, our identity remains anchored in our local businesses and neighborhoods. We maintain that small-town charm right here in the heart of a sprawling metropolis, where our Western heritage beautifully intersects with fine art, as showcased in the Bowie House.”
Rickard informed a crowd of about 150 attendees on September 26 about promising developments coming soon. Among the most notable is JPI’s Jefferson Ridglea Village, the first multifamily housing project in two decades, which is set to bring 377 units and 20 townhomes to 5837 Calmont Ave. by the first quarter of 2025.
Rickard pointed out that there is an unprecedented low in vacancy rates along Camp Bowie Boulevard, while rental prices have surged. “Since 2020, over 20 businesses have either opened or expanded,” she noted. “In the past year alone, more than 30 new establishments have emerged, translating into 700 new jobs and an investment of $150 million.”
Businesses in the area have also benefited from the proximity to Dickies Arena, drawing in foot traffic from TCU football fans and other visitors. With such momentum, there's a palpable excitement about the future of Camp Bowie District.
