SAN DIEGO-- The
San Diego Padres have not gotten the better of Clayton Kershaw really often.
And he wasn't going to let them get the better of him this time, either.
Kershaw has a 23-10 record and 2.12 ERA in 46 profession begins versus the Padres even after Friday night's loss when he couldn't get through five innings and took the loss after giving up 4 runs on eight hits and five walks (the most walks he has actually had in a start since August 2019).
When the video game ended, the video board operator at Petco Park posted a basic "Padres Win" video on the scoreboard above the left field seats to celebrate the triumph. In addition to the Padres' logo and tolling objective bell, however, a photo of Kershaw in tears was superimposed over the video.
The 'trolling' drew mad responses from Dodgers fans on social media-- however little reaction from Kershaw himself on Saturday.
" I do not think I'm going to take the bait on this one," Kershaw said when requested his response.
When it was sent out to him, the three-time Cy Young Award winner did acknowledge that he saw the video Saturday early morning.
" You do not like it, pitch much better," he said. "That's probably the primary rule there.
" I don't think they do it if we win."
