DUI stop leads to traffic collision, suspect held at gunpoint

(FOX40.COM) - - One individual was apprehended following a traffic stop that ended in an automobile accident, according to the Oroville Authorities Department.

Police reported that on Sept. 19 at around 12:15 AM, an Oroville policeman was patrolling the location of Oro Dam Blvd E and Feather River Blvd. when the officer observed a Toyota sedan exit a car park, almost striking a curb in the opposite lane prior to accelerating at high speeds.

The officer tried to carry out a traffic stop of the lorry, nevertheless, the driver who was identified as Rawinder Kandola, presumably ran away. He drove erratically through numerous traffic signals at high rates of speed, according to OPD.

Police say Kandola led the officer on a quick pursuit with light traffic conditions for about a mile before Kandola lost control of his automobile and rear-ended an uninvolved occupied SUV near Feather River Blvd. and Gold Dredger Drive.

Kandola's vehicle then collided with a small tree and damaged nearby home, officials state. The uninvolved celebration sustained small injuries and moderate damage to their car.

The solo officer on the scene stated they held Kandola at gunpoint and repeatedly instructed him to provide his hands. Kandola reportedly stopped working to abide by the officers' commands and continued to move around within the automobile.

For officer security, the solo officer stated they waited until additional backup systems arrived on the scene prior to eliminating Kandola from his lorry. Kandola was arrested and booked into the Butte County Jail for supposedly driving while under the influence and running away or
trying to avert peace officers with wanton neglect.

Both involved lorries were hauled from the scene.
