Big news is brewing in Arlington! The Arlington Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) is gearing up for a remarkable new venture: a Welcome Center set to open at the iconic Choctaw Stadium. This center is not just any building; it will serve as a showcase for what makes Arlington an inviting destination for businesses and residents alike.
Under the leadership of AEDC Executive Director Marty Wieder, who took the helm in February, this project has long been in the making. "It’s something that’s been on the horizon for the Economic Development Corp. for some time," Wieder stated. The AEDC completed a rigorous selection process to find the perfect architect, resulting in the choice of Selbert Perkins Design, a firm with a proven track record in transformative projects, including Texas Live! in Arlington's entertainment district.
While the planning phase is just beginning, the center is aimed to be a pivotal location for attracting new businesses to Arlington. Here’s what we know so far:
The Welcome Center will be strategically positioned between the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau and the National Medal of Honor Museum, ensuring it will be easily recognizable. "There’s an entrance where you’ll see three columns, and you’ll see banners out front," Wieder explained. This prominent location is designed to attract attention and invite exploration.
As the project develops, more details regarding the center's design, dimensions, and opening date will be revealed. For now, excitement is building within the community about what this Welcome Center will mean for Arlington's economic landscape.
