Breaking Now News is thrilled to announce that the Oakland Coliseum will continue to host pro sports after the A's departure. The Oakland Roots, Oakland's men's professional soccer team, have secured a deal to play their home games at the historic Oakland Coliseum starting in 2025.
The Oakland Roots have signed a $3 million agreement to make the Coliseum their new home turf. This move comes as a significant development for the team, as they currently play at California State University, East Bay.
Although the Oakland Coliseum seats 63,000, which is more than the Roots' average attendance of 4,000, the team has plans to build a new 10,000-seat soccer stadium on a section of the parking lot. This project has been in the works for about a year and is set to provide an intimate setting for fans to enjoy the games.
Ownership of the Oakland Coliseum will soon be transferred to the African American Sports & Entertainment Group (AASEG). The group plans to revamp the entire site for future sporting events, including a potential NFL expansion team.
Moreover, the Oakland Roots have a star-studded ownership group that includes former Oakland Raider Marshawn Lynch, Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong, and Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd, who hails from Oakland.
