A devastating fire ripped through a Cobb County apartment complex early this morning, leaving residents scrambling for safety as flames engulfed multiple buildings. Firefighters battled the intense blaze for hours, struggling to contain the damage at the Pines Court Apartments.
Residents described waking up to smoke alarms and the sound of crackling flames. "I grabbed my kids and ran—there was no time to think," said one mother, visibly shaken. Another tenant reported seeing flames "shooting from the roof" as neighbors frantically knocked on doors to alert others.
Cobb County Fire Department responded with multiple units but faced difficulties due to the fire's rapid spread. "The construction materials and close proximity of buildings created perfect conditions for fire to jump," explained Battalion Chief Alan Rodgers at the scene.
Local charities and churches have already begun collecting donations of clothing, toiletries, and essential items. A temporary shelter has been established at a nearby community center while authorities assess the structural integrity of remaining units.
