Former Texas Tech Athlete Takes Home Medal At World Championships

A previous Texas Tech professional athlete Monae & #x 2019; Nichols took home a silver medal in the World Athletics Indoor Championships for the long jump classification.
She took the silver medal in the women''s long jump Sunday at the indoor World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.
Nichols accomplished a dive of 6.83/ 22-3.5 in the last round of the women & #x 2019; s long jump, getting beat by Tara Davis-Woodhall, & #xA 0; the former Big 12 and NCAA champion with Texas, who installed the fifth-best dive in U.S. indoor history, with 7.07/ 23-2.5 to take home the gold.
Nichols completed for Texas Tech in 2021 and 2022 after transferring from Bethune-Cookman. 2 years earlier, in her last season for the Red Raiders, she completed second in the long jump at the Big 12 and NCAA indoor champions and first in the long jump in the Big 12 and fourth in the NCAA throughout the outside season.
Before that & #xA 0; she was second and 3rd in the long dive in the Big 12 indoor and outdoor meets and 6th and 13th in the NCAA indoor and outdoor championships.
Nichols, a 25-year-old from Auburndale, Florida, continues to train in Lubbock. She is currently in 21st location on the planet for ladies''s long dive.
