In a significant leadership shift, Governor Maura Healey has officially appointed Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey Noble as the next Colonel of the Massachusetts State Police (MSP). This decision follows a comprehensive selection process initiated in March, which involved a specialized search committee and the expertise of a national search firm.
Governor Healey's commitment to finding the right leader for MSP involved a thorough approach:
Governor Healey praised Noble, stating, "Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey Noble is a principled, respected leader who is widely praised for his integrity, compassion, and ability to bring people together." This sentiment reflects the high expectations placed on him as he takes on this pivotal role.
Geoffrey Noble is no stranger to law enforcement, having served in the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) from 1995 until his retirement in 2022. Here are some highlights from his extensive career:
Noble holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and a Master of Arts in Education from Seton Hall University. He is also a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy, which adds to his credentials as a leader in law enforcement.
Noble is set to begin his new role in October. Although he currently resides in New Jersey, he will be relocating to Massachusetts to take the helm of the state police. His appointment marks a new chapter for the MSP, with hopes for enhanced community relations and operational excellence.
Governor Healey and Public Safety and Security Secretary Terrence Reidy expressed their gratitude to Interim MSP Colonel Jack Mawn, who provided leadership during the transition period since February 2023.
