GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) - - A 51-year-old Grand Island female is facing multiple DWI charges after being arrested twice within three hours, according to the Erie County Constable's Office.
At approximately 10:57 p.m. on May 2, deputies say they reacted to the intersection of Love and West River Roads on Grand Island where they state an automobile had apparently stuck a barrier.
Deputies say the driver, Leslie Zayas, showed signs of intoxication and the smell of alcohol was found emanating from her. Deputies say Zayas failed several field sobriety tests and refused to offer recognition.
Zayas was arrested and charged with misdemeanor counts of DWI and blockage of governmental administration. She was launched with tickets. A 12-hour hang on the lorry was put in location and it was hauled.
Just under 3 hours later on, deputies state they reacted to the New York State Police barracks on Baseline Road where Zayas presumably drove to pick up her keys for the towed lorry.
Deputies say they supervised additional field sobriety tests and the initial breath test result was a. 14 BAC level. Zayas, they say, once again refused to offer recognition. She was once again charged with DWI along with blockage of governmental administration.
Following the 2nd arrest, Zayas was carried to the Erie County Holding Center to await arraignment.
