Group promotes railroad crossing change after Missouri toddler's death

HARDIN, Mo. - - A neighborhood plans to gather in assistance of a young Hardin, Missouri, child while pushing for change.

Harper's Law Committee is set up to meet Wednesday evening in the community space at Hardin's City Hall.

The committee is requesting extra precaution, like included fencing, to be added near railroad crossings when the tracks go through towns and cities.

The group is named after 1-year-old Harper who died after she was hit by a train in Hardin, Missouri, soon prior to 9 a.m. May 13.

Investigators said the little lady was standing or sitting on the railroad tracks near the 1st Street and Elm Street crossway when the train struck her.

The Ray County Sheriff's office examined the kid's death and stated it was an accident.
