After evacuations near the Quarry Fire were lifted, Tom Stonebraker couldn't wait to return to his home that he had to leave behind. But his eagerness to return wasn't just about sleeping in his own bed; it was about expressing his heartfelt gratitude to the firefighters who worked tirelessly to save his home and many others.
Stonebraker had a unique vantage point during the firefight - he was able to watch the firefighters' efforts on his land through his Ring doorbell camera. He joked about not seeing flames on the camera, but soon realized the gravity of the situation as he witnessed the round-the-clock dedication of the first responders.
One day, Stonebraker made contact with a first responder in the field, Mike Scott, the assistant chief of the Grand Fire Protection District. He took the opportunity to express his sincere thanks to Scott and the entire firefighting team for their heroic efforts.
Stonebraker shared the conversation on social media, highlighting the selflessness and bravery of the firefighters. He emphasized the importance of showing gratitude and support to those who risk their lives to protect others.
Now that Stonebraker has returned home safely, he plans to personally thank Scott and the rest of the team for their dedication and sacrifice. He recognizes the privilege he and his neighbors have to return home, thanks to the hard work of the firefighters.
