MBB vs MarylandLINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)-- The Nebraska guys's basketball group beat Maryland in overtime 70-66 at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Sunday.
Derrick Walker scored a game-high 23 points and Keisei Tominaga included 20 on his way to his 10th video game of the season with double figures.
Nebraska led 31-24 at halftime and kept the momentum early in the second half up until Maryland went on to take a 50-42 lead.
The Huskers later rallied, outscoring Maryland 10-8 the remainder of the method. The rally included a driving layup with less than 30 seconds staying in guideline from Walker to tie it at 58 and send the video game to overtime.
The story of the video game was in the additional minutes where Tominaga struck a three-pointer to draw first blood before Maryland and Nebraska traded points.
It was Sam Hoiberg who sealed it for Nebraska. He grabbed a significant take and layup to clinch the Huskers lead on their method to the win.
" I knew I was going to try and get that take, and I did today, best timing," Sam Hoiberg stated.
Head coach Fred Hoiberg said today's game displayed a full synergy.
" A lot of individuals were stating when we had the injuries (to Emmanuel Bandoumel and Juwan Gary) ‘‘ what might have been.' My message to the people was: ‘‘ what can still be?' Those guys fight like hell, they practice as tough as any person and they are durable," Coach Hoiberg stated. "I believe they think now that they can do it.".
