In house divided, Michigan fan gets kidney from his sibling, an Ohio State fan

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) - - Two Ohio siblings grew up competitors, with one being an Ohio State fan and the other a Michigan fan.

When one needed a kidney transplant, the other stepped up immediately to be a living donor.

Steve Robison has been handling kidney disease for a little over a year. When he found out he required a transplant his younger brother, Mike, provided his kidney.

The Robison siblings matured in northwest Ohio. Steve was a Wolverines fan and Mike enjoyed the Buckeyes.

" I never held it versus him, however it wasn't enough to encourage me to be a Michigan fan, so we've constantly held that little bit of rivalry. We've had a brother or sister rivalry a little bit, we've had a competition of the college teams we like," stated Mike Robison.

Steve said he was a Michigan fan in a family of Buckeyes mainly simply to go against the grain.

" I wanted to be a little bit different. I type of desired the teenage rival, simply fun to stir up problem," said Steve.

Steve grew up to become a high school and college referee here in Columbus, so now he stated he is objective when it concerns the competition, but Mike is still a diehard Buckeye although he now lives in Arizona.

Steve was diagnosed with kidney illness in 2015 and discovered he needed a donor. Without doubt, Mike volunteered among his own kidneys.

" I wished to be his kidney donor despite the fact that we didn't always see eye to eye as brother or sisters or as college football fans," stated Mike.

Steve said he was floored by the generous deal from his brother and he can't wait to be on the other side of this treatment.

"It's so offering of him, you know? I could not certainly be to this point without him," stated Steve.

Steve's kidney transplant is happening here in Columbus next Friday. Both brothers said they are a bit anxious, but they are excited for Steve to begin his recovery.
