In-N-Out has filed an application to take over a former Burger King in South San Francisco, potentially adding another location for burger lovers just south of the city.
The application was spotted by The Chronicle in South San Francisco's planning department, indicating In-N-Out's interest in 932 and 972 El Camino Real. This location is conveniently situated near a Safeway and a major intersection at Westborough Boulevard, in close proximity to McDonald's and Taco Bell.
If approved, this new In-N-Out location would provide a total of three options for fans to indulge in their favorite Animal Style Double-Doubles and fries within San Francisco and its surrounding areas. The existing In-N-Out locations are at Fisherman's Wharf, 260 Washington Street in Daly City, and potentially this new spot in South SF just four miles south of the Daly City location.
Furthermore, there is another In-N-Out a few miles down 280 on Gellert Boulevard in Daly City, south of the Serramonte Center, and another in Millbrae.
While a spokesperson for the company did not confirm specific development plans, they expressed hope for expanding to South San Francisco in the future. However, any plans will need to undergo planning and design review with South SF before coming to fruition.
In-N-Out currently operates approximately 35 locations across the Bay Area and beyond, with the latest addition being a store in Santa Rosa that opened last year. On the other hand, the company made the decision to close their only Oakland location on Oakport Street earlier this year, citing concerns related to crime and worker safety.
