Indictment to be announced after Cheektowaga policemans struck by taken lorry


CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) - - The Erie County District Attorney's Office is preparing to reveal an indictment when it comes to a Cheektowaga law enforcement officer who was struck by a stolen car and seriously hurt.

45-year-old Troy Blackchief was among the officers assisting Depew cops end a pursuit associated to stolen vehicles early in the morning of February 6. As part of his road to healing, Blackchief's household announced in March that he will require to receive a brand-new skull bone, which will have to be "3D printed and surgically placed."

Blackchief had actually been deploying stop sticks on Union Road at Route 33 when he was struck.

A 17-year veteran of the Cheektowaga Police Department, Blackchief serves in the patrol department, in addition to the SWAT team.

News 4 was informed the suspect in this case is 17 years of ages and was arraigned Thursday afternoon.
