A search is underway for suspects involved in a shooting in San Diego's Ocean Crest area. The incident resulted in the death of one man and left another seriously injured.
According to the San Diego Police Department, officers responded to a report of a shooting near 1200 Hidden Trails Road at around 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
Upon arrival, police found two victims with gunshot wounds and immediately began rendering aid until paramedics arrived. Tragically, a 40-year-old Hispanic man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The other victim, a 42-year-old Hispanic man, was rushed to the hospital in serious condition. Fortunately, authorities believe he will survive.
Both victims have been identified as San Diego County residents, although their names have not been disclosed yet. Police noted that there were multiple individuals and vehicles present at the scene. One of the vehicles spotted leaving the area was a Lexus, which was later found with bullet holes near Upas Street and Florida Street. Detectives are investigating whether this vehicle was involved in the shooting.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear at this time. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the SDPD at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
