(FOX40.COM) - - A civilian pilot may have received the fright of their life on Friday morning as they violated a short-term flight restriction over Lake Tahoe due to President Biden's trip in the location, according to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).

At around 7:50 a.m., the civilian aircraft began its flight towards Lake Tahoe when 2 NORAD F-16 fighter jets and a United States Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin obstructed and accompanied the aircraft out of the location.

NORAD said that during the event flares were utilized to grab the attention of the civilian pilot.

" Flares were utilized with the highest regard for the safety of the intercepted aircraft and people on the ground," NORAD composed in a news release.

Flares are designed to stress out quickly and completely before landing on the ground.

" NORAD utilizes a layered defense network of radars, satellites and fighter aircraft to recognize aircraft and determine the appropriate reaction," NORAD composed in the release.

" The identification and monitoring of airplane demonstrates how NORAD executes its aerospace caution and aerospace control missions for the United States and Canada."

The momentary flight restriction near the area of Lake Tahoe is because of President Joe Biden's visit.

President Biden had a weeklong getaway prepared at the alpine lake during which he also required time to check out Maui to attend to the damage triggered by the West Maui Wildfires.
