Man arrested almost one year after woman's body was found on side of the road

(FOX40.COM)-- A guy was detained in connection with a female's death nearly a year after her body was discovered on the side of the road near Marysville.

According to the Yuba County Sheriff's Department, investigators stated a 39-year-old man from Yuba City was apprehended Wednesday night and is accused of killing Amery Sweany.

The 39-year-old suspect was booked in Yuba County Jail.

Officials said Sweany's body was found on April 23, 2023, after somebody reported a body lying within the orchard near Simpson Lane. At the time, the sheriff's department said Sweany was fairly new to the Yuba-Sutter location from Chico.

In May 2023, private investigators stated an autopsy revealed the cause of death as blunt force injury and proof at the scene led them to believe she was hit by a vehicle.
