Man pleads guilty to beating spouse to death in 2019

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) - - A 38-year-old Cheektowaga guy pleaded guilty to a felony count of murder Friday morning, according to the Erie County District Lawyer's office.

Yuriy Bruks pleaded guilty to the charge after his wife was discovered beaten to death in their Cheektowaga home in August of 2019.

At approximately 3:40 a.m., on Aug. 4, 2019, cops and paramedics reacted to Bruk's Raymond Avenue home where, authorities say, they discovered Bruk's partner, 34-year-old Tetiana Bruks, deceased in a bathroom.

Tetiana's death was figured out, by the Erie County Medical Examiner's Office, to be a homicide triggered by blunt force injury to her neck, upper body, and head. Authorities state an examination figured out that Yuriy caused the death of his wife by beating her consistently.

As the murder was examined, police say Yuriy left the location. He was apprehended 2 months later after he unlawfully crossed into Mexico. According to authorities, when he was collared, he was found to be in possession of a one-way ticket from Mexico City to Istanbul, Turkey.

Yuriy is set up to return to court on June 9. He faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in jail and continues to be held without bail.
