WICHITA, Kan. – A late-night shooting in South Wichita left one man injured and neighbors shaken as police continue their investigation. The incident unfolded near the 2000 block of South Broadway, where authorities responded to reports of gunfire just before midnight.
Neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots followed by shouting. "It sounded like fireworks at first, then we realized it was gunfire," said Maria Gonzalez, who lives two blocks away. "We didn’t see anything, but police were here within minutes."
Another resident, James Carter, mentioned increased police patrols in the area recently. "This isn’t the first incident, but I hope it’s the last," he said.
