At approximately 1:48 p.m., police received reports of a serious traffic collision in the 2700 block of East Chapman Avenue. Here’s a breakdown of what transpired:

  • A Hyundai Tucson was traveling westbound on Chapman Avenue.
  • The driver of the SUV made a southward turn into a parking lot.
  • A motorcyclist, along with a passenger, was heading east when they collided with the SUV.

Immediate Aftermath

Emergency responders from the Orange City Fire Department arrived at the scene, where they sadly pronounced one of the motorcycle occupants dead. The second occupant was rushed to a nearby hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

Investigation Underway

As of now, the cause of the collision remains uncertain. Investigators have not yet confirmed whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident. The driver of the SUV stayed at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.

Traffic Disruptions
