NFL draft: Rams take TCU's Steve Avila to assist rebuild offending line

TARZANA, Calif.-- The Rams aimed to resolve their porous offensive line by picking TCU guard Steve Avila in the 2nd round with the 36th total pick of the NFL draft on Friday night.

Avila played every position other than left deal with throughout his 5 seasons with the Horned Frogs, making consensus All-America honors at left guard as a redshirt senior in 2022.

A crucial piece up front during TCU's unforeseen go to the College Football Playoff title game, which it lost to Georgia, Avila did not permit a sack during his last 2 seasons in college.

The Rams battled with injuries on the offensive line all last season, a major factor for their depressing defense of their Super Bowl title.

The Rams did not have a first-round pick due to the fact that of its January 2021 trade with Detroit for quarterback Matthew Stafford, who directed the win in Super Bowl LVI in their house arena.
