HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (WNCN) - - A guy is dead and one suspect is injured after a home invasion in Orange County Sunday early morning, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
At 12:40 a.m., Orange County deputies responded to a home intrusion at a home on Highway 70 near Buckhorn Road. After getting here, they discovered the victim and 2 other locals inside.
Deputies and emergency medical workers rendered aid and carried the victim to Duke University Hospital where he died. The other residents at the home informed deputies they were held at gunpoint, but were not physically harmed.

The initial investigation revealed the resident fired a shotgun at the 3 armed burglars, hitting among them. Deputies said somebody in the group returned fire, hitting the local who later on died during surgical treatment.
Deputies found one suspect, Clarence Brandon Hayes, 28, of
Durham, outdoors in the car park of a company near the home with a gunshot injury to the abdomen. He went through surgical treatment at a neighboring healthcare facility. Hayes' current medical condition is unidentified.
A K-9 track recommended 2 of the unharmed burglars left the scene in a vehicle. The locals of the home described them as males wearing masks and all black clothing.

The constable's workplace said charges are expected to be filed versus Hayes.
Deputies are not launching the victim's identity until his family members are informed.
The sheriff's workplace asks if anybody saw or heard anything near the crossway of Highway 70 and Buckhorn Road between 12:30 and 1 a.m., to call lead private investigator Dylan Hendricks at 919-245-2951.
