LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – – Lincolnites got up early Thursday morning to see a "sun canine" in the sky.

Channel 8 meteorologist Malcolm Byron stated sun pet dogs form when sunlight passes through ice crystals at a particular angle.

This then produces an optical illusion on each side of the sun.

Sundogs!
