Courtesy Nebraska State PatrolLINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)-- Gov. Jim Pillen is joining with state troopers and transport officials to advise caution as a snowstorm moves through Nebraska.
Several counties in northwest Nebraska will be in a winter season storm warning by Tuesday night. A winter season weather condition advisory covers much of the rest of the state.
Counties in Nebraska's far northwest corner might receive up of 12 inches of snow by Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service.
Because of this, Pillen is dealing with the Nebraska State Patrol and the Nebraska Department of Transportation to assist people get ready for the severe conditions.
Winter season calving season is just beginning, and the weather condition might damage calves, need to hypothermia set in.
Pillen is asking ranchers to ensure their herds are ready for the cold conditions.
" It's difficult to stop mother nature," he said in a news release. "But to the degree possible, manufacturers are recommended to prepare as much as possible to secure their herds. Snow and severe cold can be a hazardous combination, particularly to newborn calves."

State authorities are advising drivers to watch on the forecast and to inspect the Nebraska 511 website, as heavy snow and strong winds are most likely to make travel challenging.
Plow teams will be clearing the roads as snow boils down, and the state patrol will be out assisting anybody who gets stuck.
Troopers advise that tourists pack warm clothing, food, phone and water chargers in their vehicle simply in case they get stranded.
