Public safety power shutoffs possible amid heat wave in Northern California

(FOX40.COM)-- Pacific Gas & & Electric said it might shut off power in parts of Northern California to prevent beginning a fire as winds are forecast to detect Tuesday.

The energy company stated that "forecast weather condition, the potential for wind-related damage, and fuel wetness material in live and dead plants" are consider the decision.

According to PG&E, localized gusts could reach up to 40 mph in parts of the main and northern Sacramento Valley.

The yard crop has treated throughout the lower elevations and dead fuel moisture values are at seasonal dryness levels across the lower elevations of the interior.

According to PG&E, potentially impacted counties consist of:



  • Colusa


  • Glenn

  • Lake

  • Napa

  • Shasta

  • Solano

  • Tehama

  • Yolo




The public safety power shutoff caution comes amid what is anticipated to be a week-long heat wave.
