Remaining mild for a couple of days

Remaining mild for a couple of days

Malcolm Byron,

After a really moderate weekend, the comfortable air mass will remain on President’& rsquo; s Day. The day features a mixture of sun and clouds, with temperatures initially in the 20s and 30s. We’& rsquo; ll quickly increase into the 40s and 50s as the day advances.

We’& rsquo; ll likely top out near 55° & deg; in Lincoln. Many areas must be able to reach the 50s on Monday, which has to do with 10-15° & deg; above average for this time of year.

Tuesday doesn’& rsquo; t come up with any issues either, however that might change on Wednesday. Snow will overspread much of northern and western Nebraska on Tuesday night and early Wednesday. As we head into Wednesday, rain and freezing rain will be a possibility in southeast Nebraska.

While snow will primarily be an issue to the north, ice might be a bigger concern to the south. Southeast Nebraska will remain in prime position for a dry slot to move overhead at some point on Wednesday, which could be a conserving grace in regards to ice accumulation.

We’& rsquo; ll be viewing this system closely in the coming days. Behind it, temperature levels will plunge. We’& rsquo; ll go from 50s for highs on Monday and Tuesday, to teens for highs by Thursday.
