Richmond accepting solar eclipse glasses donations for a great cause


RICHMOND, Ky. (BNN)-- The next solar eclipse won't happen for another 20 years. So what should you do with your viewing glasses?

Richmond City Hall is accepting gently utilized eclipse seeing glasses to contribute to organizations that will distribute them to schools in South America and Polynesia. These areas are set to experience an eclipse later on this year, according to a news release from the Battle of Richmond.

According to the release, donations will be accepted until May 8. To be accepted, the glasses must:


  • Be undamaged


  • Free of scratches

  • No tears or leaks

  • U.S.-made paperboard glasses


  • ISO Certified



Glasses can be dropped off at the Battle of Richmond Visitor's Center at 101 Battlefield Memorial Highway or Richmond City Hall on West Main Street.
